Monarchy: Throne Consciousness

Description:

You see life as a school, and believe that we are all here to be tested and to learn a lesson. Not only are you the one who is tested — you are also the testmaker. As the monarch, you are held to no one’s standards besides your own. You have the choice: you can either be a tyrannical warlord, or be a philosopher king or queen.

Like the Zeus archetype, you may be firm, supportive, and ambivalent. Like the Hades archetype you may be fierce, unstoppable, and reclusive.

Instead of seeing life as a school, many that elect a Monarchy instead see life as a cosmic battleground that they volunteered to participate in so that they could fight the forces of evil: deceit and maliciousness. If you are living life as a cosmic battleground, be wary...

The most harm of all is done when powers in the hands of people who are absolutely persuaded by the purity of their instincts and intentions
— Milton Friedman

Traits:

Authoritative, Self-righteous, Direct, Charismatic, Idealistic, Optimistic, Audacious, Perfectionist, Industrious, and Regal

Conscience:

If you elect a monarchical state, your conscience is like a singular ruler sitting on the throne of your mind. This singular ruler is bestowed with absolute authority, making their commands practically divine. The singular ruler that sits on your mental throne can range from the law, to a concept like reason, creativity, or love, to your ideal vision of a human, woman, or man, to your conception of god, or to another character, whether they are real, fictional, or somewhere in-between.

Variations:

MONOTHEISTIC: the belief that there is one deity

• Theocracy: Clergy rules over the secular. Power on the throne is either an incarnation of god or representative of god. Theocracies often persecute both those of other religions and those that aren’t religious.

• Secular monarchy (inverted theocracy): Power on the throne rejects the idea of god. Power on the throne often persecutes those that are religious, or attempts to create a culture that deems all that speak of god as uncredible.

HENOTHEISTIC: the belief that there are many deities, with one chief deity

•  Federation: Power is divided between one central authority and many local authorities.

Susceptibility:

A monarchical state’s most critical point is the psychology of its ruler. A perfectionist ruler’s high standards and idealistic expectations are only beneficial if they unite their eros (desire) with the superego (inner critic). Failing to do so will cause the two immutable psychological forces to wage war on one another, resulting in a culture plagued by guilt, shame, self-consciousness, and self-hatred. The more guilt-ridden a culture is, the more sexually repressed its citizenry is. Counterintuitively, the more a culture makes sex out to be a taboo, the more likely its citizens will be consumed by hypersexual imagery. Ultimately, if a ruler fails to unify their eros and superego, the monarchy will fall and descend into another form of regime, most commonly resulting in a duopoly, ochlocracy, or aristocracy.

Idealism is the noble toga that political gentlemen drape over their will to power
— Aldous Huxley

The more idealistic a ruler is, the greater they deem themselves — and the more likely they are to fall. A Monarch’s asymptotic standards are inherently impossible to attain. As a result, many Monarchs alienate others that do not meet their arbitrary and asymptotic standards. An asymptote, a "straight line continually approaching but never meeting a curve", derives from asymptotes which means "not falling together". The latter portion of the word asymptote derives from piptein which means "to fall." Those Monarchs that make the mistake of having asymptotic standards are setting themselves up to fall.

Implications:

• Explanation for existence: Most likely believes that the universe was created by God. Often believes that the universe was created out of chaos, ex nihilo, gnostic demiurge, platonic demiurge, or from spontaneous emergence.

• Conceptual model of the universe/cosmos: Most likely believes that the universe has a singular beginning, is infinite, growing, evolving, & inanimate.

• Idea of consciousness: Most likely believes that we are platonic immortal souls that inhabit our mortal bodies. 80%  likely to believe that our consciousness is historical, 20% likely to believe that our consciousness is ahistorical.

• Justification for life’s suffering: Most likely believes that there is a moral justification for life’s suffering.

• Theory of perception: 90% believes that their perception of reality is reality itself. 10% likely to believe that they can only experience their perception of reality.

• Sensorium elicitation process: Most likely believes in downwards causality and as a result has a top-down management approach. Due to their disagreeable nature, they likely occupy the role of judge when communicating with others. While acting as in the role of judge, Monarchs use their guttural and instinctive evaluative method to determine elicit emotions. Monarchs are likely to be defensive and may even weaponize their negative emotions on others to get their way.

• Thought structuring process: Monarchs are moral absolutists, and as a result tend to have deep convictions. Some Monarch’s thoughts are structured by the tyranny of their opinions. They tend to have a singular focus and likely look down on those that believe that they are multi-taskers. Since they most likely have a linear conception of time, they tend to think chronologically, and as a result Monarchs believe that all should act with the law of cause and effect in mind. If someone says something to a Monarch that the Monarch believes was irresponsible or inconsiderate, they will not shy away from going into attack mode. Monarchs often value history and believe that history must be preserved and widely known, otherwise history will be repeated. Most likely has an antiquarian perspective of history, meaning that they believe that humanity has fallen from a golden era. As a result they tend to have a deep desire to restore things to their former glory.

• Emotion formulation process: Tends to be fiery and emotionally reactive due to being so immersed in their experiences. Aesthetically, what separates them from Nomads is their emphasis on abstract beauty, as opposed to the Nomad’s emphasis on sensorial beauty. Since they are often fully immersed in situations they are experiencing they tend to be either intensely disagreeable or extremely agreeable. Tends to release their negative emotion in a direct and aggressive way.

• Reputation: Monarchs are perceived as an angel or as a demon by the ignorant, and as a demonic angel or angelic demon by the wise. Since they are likely to have low levels of doubt and high levels of conviction, they are often perceived by others as either passionate or intense. As you might assume, they often clash with those that deem them intense and connect those that deem them passionate.

• Post-Life Hypothesis: Theocratic Monarchs most likely believe in the afterlife; after death your personal consciousness survives, remains intact, and either ascends to heaven and or descends into hell. Secular Monarchs believe that when you die, you’re permanently dead.
